e-FraudAdvice.net is a merchant-focused resource that provides expert advice on fraud and chargeback prevention in the e-Commerce environment. Our advice has been gathered from over 7 years spent working within the Payment Service industry, and has been proven to save online retailers money.

We identified a significant gap and lack of support for online retailers in the area of fraud prevention. Most online resources provide cursory tips and shallow volumes of information. At the other end of the scale of course there are the high cost, high involvement ‘risk management’ companies that will charge you thousands of pounds before you see any benefit. We believe we fill this gap and that our e-Fraud Guide provides a good balance between these two extremes.

Of course, it is inadvisable to make anti-fraud techniques openly available on public forums, as this can only aid the cause of the fraudsters. In our experience, the majority of merchants place lack of fraud support near the top of their list of gripes when asked about their payment service provider or bank. Typically, these institutions try to shrug off the responsibility to educate their customers, or place no real emphasis on providing pro-active advice for fear of adversely affecting their sales. They don't want to scare customers away.

This is nonsense of course, and patronising. If you are going into the forest at night, you want to know what dangers you will face and what equipment you'll need to hand if things go wrong. We aim to do just that by arming you with the knowledge and skills you need to better protect your business from fraud and chargebacks.

There is however no 'magic bullet' when it comes to fighting fraud. No one tool or measure will shield you 100% from the risks of online trading. Your expertise and vigilance are the first and vital line of defence. The key is to be in the know. To know what anti-fraud measures there are available to you, and how best you might implement them will pay dividends now and for the future. As somebody far wiser than we once said: knowledge is power.
